Duane "Keffe D" Davis was sentenced on October 13 to 40 years to life in prison for the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur.

Judge Carli Kierny imposed the sentence in a Las Vegas courtroom. A jury found Davis guilty on August 31, after less than three hours of deliberations, on charges that included first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Prosecutor Marc DiGiacomo asked for the maximum. "In my mind he deserves the maximum possible sentence," he said, adding that Davis is "guaranteed to die" behind bars.

Davis has been in custody since his arrest in September 2023. His lawyer, Michael Sanft, said he plans to appeal.
