Producer Aviel Hirschfield has voluntarily dismissed his copyright lawsuit against Drake, OVO Sound and Universal Music Group over "Janice STFU," a little over a week after filing it. The dismissal is without prejudice, so the claim could be refiled.
Hirschfield, a Grammy winner who co-wrote Beyoncé's "Heated," had alleged that the song's chorus matched a recording he sent to producers in Drake's circle before its release.
Drake's camp rejected the claim. "Drake wrote this song and has no connection or knowledge of this person, full stop," a representative said. The reasons for the dismissal have not been made public.
